Week 11 Review

Tick-tock, tick-tock, the season is quickly coming to an end. There is not much time left to make a push for the playoffs.

While the top four teams are pretty much in, the next five teams could all still grab the final two places with a strong finish.

Trade action

The league saw six trades involving eight different teams in the final week before the deadline. League chatter suggests that more trades were being negotiated but that they could not be finalized in time. I love the trade deadline just because it helps to create so many trades. Draft time is the only other event each year with so many trades. But it is still worth voting on if the league wants a deadline each season or if trades should always be allowed. Stay tuned for rule change votes in early 2022.

A massive trade between White Hart Bobby Layne and Dan L.

Of all of the trades I think the one between White Hart Bobby Layne and Dan L was my favorite. Some major pieces changed hands but it was a fair trade, at least according to trade analyzer on Dynasty League Football.

Jolly Roger gets Aaron Rodgers, TC gets Cam and a draft pick.

One of the least equal (according to DLF) trades of the week was between Jolly Roger and TC. Jolly Roger finally got the backup QB they have been going after all season, but they paid a heavy price for him. But if Rodgers helps the team win another championship then it will have been worth it! And I seem to remember (correct me if I’m wrong) that the “Roger” in the team name is a reference to Aaron Rodgers, and if so then the nostalgia alone is worth the price.

Blunder of the week

There were not any huge blunders this week, but since there must be a winner each week, the award will go to Jolly Roger for starting Patrick Mahomes over Aaron Rogers. Mahomes put up 26 less points than Rodgers. Luckily for Jolly Roger the extra points were not needed this week.

Standings

GS

21-1, 1385.86 points scored

Team GS just keeps on winning. A quick tour of past seasons and it looks like a 21-1 record is the best we have ever had at this point in the season. Newly acquired tight end George Kittle was immediately in the line up and immediately contributed the TE5 performance.

Joe Dubya

17-5, 1305.42 points scored

Joe should complain a lot more. It really seems to work out for the team. A few seasons ago he complained that they traded their team’s future for Derek Henry. After that Henry became the yeti that destroys souls and wins weeks. Now a few weeks ago Joe complained that his season was over because of Henry’s injury, but Joe just keeps winning. In fact he has not lost since. So complain more!

Jolly Roger

14-8, 1425.9 points scored

Jolly Roger keeps on winning. The team shipped off some draft picks for two veterans. James Conner had an impact this week scoring 18 points, but Aaron Rodgers was on the bench even though he easily outscored Patrick Mahomes. Christian McCaffrey return continues with another 21 points, which was good enough to be RB5 on the week, but was less than half the points of RB1 Jonathan Taylor.

Wizard Of Oz

14-8, 1283.14 points scored

Wizard Of Oz had the highest score this week. That would be impressive considering that Marquise Brown had zero points, and Joe Burrow only scored 9, but my oh my Jonathan Taylor had an incredible week scoring 51. If Taylor can keep that up then the league trophy will be heading down under this year.

Westminster Wildcats

11-11, 1104.94 points scored

The Wildcats went 1-1 this week after scoring 118 points. This keeps the team firmly in the playoffs, a game ahead of the next several teams. The team does not have much margin for error though and will be keeping their foot on the gas pedal. They will also hope for the return of Chase Edmonds to give them some more depth at running back.

White Hart Bobby Layne

10-12, 1281.56 points scored

White Hart Bobby Layne made a big trade this week to get some added firepower for the end of the season and the playoffs. David Montgomery and Dak Prescott both started but neither had their best game. Dak only scored 2 fantasy points, QB29 on the week, and Montgomery had 7. This led to two losses. Euan will hope both players bounce back next week. The team currently has the final playoff spot but a few down weeks could cost them.

Jason Edelman

10-12, 1072.34 points scored

Jason’s big name players came through for him this week. Dalvin Cook 19 points. Davante Adams 27 points. Darren Waller 15 points. This made for a good, but not great week. The rest of the teams will need to pick up the pace if they are going to make the playoffs.

No-Bell Prizes

10-12, 1055.56 points scored

The Prizes had their best score in several weeks, but it was not enough to buy them any wins. The team is now winless in the last three weeks and has dropped further out of the playoff spots. Injuries did play a factor in this game as both A.J. Brown and CeeDee Lamb were both knocked out of their games early. On the bright side CEH and Miles Sanders returned from IR and should be back in the line up soon.

Dan L

9-13, 1119.32 points scored

Dan was active at the trade deadline shipping off some players for future draft capital. Dan now has five first round picks in the next two draft classes. This did hit the team in the current power rankings, but that is not what the franchise is optimizing for right now. Even after the trades (or maybe because of them) the team scored 96 points and registered a win. Zach Ertz was the TE1 on the week with 24 points, a quarter of the team’s total.

TC

7-15, 883.28 points scored

Welcome back TC! Two trades mean that TC doubled his number of draft picks in 2022. Three second round picks can bring in some great players. This year players like Michael Carter and Kadarius Toney both went in the second round, so there is plenty of talent to be found there. For this week though TC was hurt by a late scratch from QB Lamar Jackson. Scoring 52 points when you have zero from your QB is not all that bad.

Adam

5-17, 1026.38 points scored

Adam was also active on the trade market picking up a shiny new 2023 second round pick. Adam should have good picks in our next draft as he is currently looking at the number two overall pick. Those picks should really help an under performing and banged up team. Next season looks like it could be much better.

Sweet Lou

4-18, 791.54 points scored

Sweet Lou got another win this week but stays at the bottom of the standings. This should not worry the team too much though. They are currently in line to have the number one overall pick in the upcoming draft. The team does have some holes to fill though with a notable lack of big names at wide receiver. Perhaps the team will go the draft route or perhaps they will trade away some of their considerable capital to bring in an established star.

Power rankings

The rankings shifted a bit this week after all of the trades. GS has closed the gap at the top and is almost even with Jolly Roger. Wizard Of Oz and White Hart Bobby Layne also look strong. I cannot wait to see how this all plays out!
