Week 1 Review

Welcome to season five of the Footclan & Friends Dynasty League. Man have I missed football. Sure the offseason is fun, everyone loves rookie drafts, but there is nothing quite like real football. And the drama of week 1 has been unforgettable; how often is Carson Wentz going to be a top fantasy option?

And how about those Seahawks!? Beating Russell Wilson on his first start as a Bronco? In Seattle! We could end the season now and I would be happy.

Go Hawks!

Power rankings

This year brings some changes in the power rankings calculations. The FantasyPros rankings are still part of the calculation but a team’s record and points scored over the last three weeks are also taken into account. Finally rankings include the MFL Power Rankings too. To blunt the effect of bad start/sit decisions (or deliberate tanking) the formula uses potential points instead of what was actually scored - so only the best possible lineup for each team. Since there have not been three weeks played yet, weeks 13 and 14 of the 2021 season are part of the calculation for now. So without further delay here are the initial power rankings for 2022.

Survivor pool

The Survivor pool has already been brutal. Five teams entered and only two are left after Week 1 - both of those teams choose the Ravens. Dan and Jason both lost with the Ravens and the Colts could only get a tie which counts as a loss for the No-Bell Prizes. If either Adam or Joe win in the next few weeks we will start again.

Blunder of the week

Without question the blunder of the week goes to James and the Westminster Wildcats. A technical issue prevented the team from submitting a lineup and they did not even realize it. James has promised that they will get it sorted it. I imagine it looks something like this.

The Wildcats tech team hard at work.

A secondary blunder goes to the No-Bell Prizes. If they started Miles Sanders or Tyler Boyd over the likes of CeeDee Lamb or Tyler Lockett they would have started the season 2-0. What a dumb call.
