Well, Joe Mixon broke fantasy football this week. Jason played him, got two wins, and set the high score for the week. Sometimes that’s just how fantasy football goes.
A few weeks ago we looked at the top wide receivers for the season so far. The top five list was very similar between last year and this year. The list of running backs has three new names this year.
2022 (Weeks 1 to 9)
Player | Points | PPG |
---|---|---|
Austin Ekeler | 168.80 | 21.100 |
Derrick Henry | 162.00 | 20.250 |
Nick Chubb | 156.10 | 19.512 |
Joe Mixon | 152.70 | 16.967 |
Christian McCaffrey | 144.96 | 18.120 |
2021 (Full Season)
Player | Points | PPG |
---|---|---|
Jonathan Taylor | 342.10 | 21.381 |
Austin Ekeler | 280.40 | 18.693 |
Joe Mixon | 266.90 | 16.681 |
Najee Harris | 256.20 | 16.012 |
Leonard Fournette | 221.10 | 15.793 |
From being last years number one RB, Jonathan Taylor has dropped to 37 so far this year. Part of that is that he has missed three games, but even his points per game is down to 10.5, less than half of what he was scoring last season. And Najee Harris has practically disappeared this season all the way down at RB28. Joe Mixon is on both lists, but if we only look at weeks 1 to 8 this year Joe Mixon drops from 4 to 14. This is just a small sample but it starts to show the trend that running backs rankings change a lot from year to year. So if you have a few good ones you had better be competing for a championship.

Blunder of the week
Joe Dubya wins the blunder of the week for losing to Jolly Roger. The thought process must have been “Derrick Henry is a Titan’s running back who scores a lot of points… I know I’ll play another Titan’s RB!” Well, Dontrell Hilliard showed him just how wrong that thinking is by only scoring 1.3 points. Joe should have played DeAndre Carter of the Chargers instead. They were desperate at wide receiver and Carter’s 7.8 points would have been enough for Joe to secure the win. Don’t worry, I’m sure it will work out next time.
