Well, week 1 is in the books. It was something. Poor one out for all the season ending injuries.
On the bright side a few teams made use of the extra win granted by scoring higher than the league median. Both Greg and Mark lost their match ups but got a bonus win. But the knife cuts both ways and Neeek and Jason both won and ended up with a bonus loss.
For all the teams names that start with “Team”, you are encouraged to give yourself some funny/witty/clever name. It’s not a requirement, but it does give the league a little bit more character.
Trade of the Week
By far the biggest trade of the week was Jolly Roger acquiring Bijan Robinson from TC (Mr. I’ve never met a player I didn’t put on the trade block). The move gives Jolly Roger the strongest running back room in the league by far. Christian McCaffrey with Bijan Robinson and a sprinkle of Josh Jacobs should make them nearly unstoppable on the ground. They did pay a big price by sending DJ Moore and their 2024 and 2025 1st rounders. And we will never forget the lesson they have taught us all.
Blunder of the Week
For immediate impact, No-Bell Prizes moving Calvin Ridley and a 2025 1st for Drake London cost them the match this week. Ridley put up 20 fantasy point. London had zero. The Prizes ended up losing by just seven points. The Prizes will hope this one looks better in year.
Review
No-Bell Prizes vs. Team Louiewallis
Louis managed to come from behind to win 91 to 84 with strong Monday night performances from Breece Hall and Garrett Wilson. While Skyy Moore put up a measly 0.4 points that was infinitely better than the 0 points on 1 target for Drake London. Both managers should be worried about production going forward.
Team edelmaj2 vs Team WhiteHartBobbyLayne
Jason managed to hold off Euan in a low scoring affair, winning 72-62. Deshaun Watson was by far the best looking QB in this contest, putting up a respectable 18 points to Lamar’s 6. On the bench Roschon Johnson impressed in the passing game with 7 targets for 6 receptions. A touchdown on the ground also helped. Euan will need to decide if he should be started over the likes of David Montgomery and Jamaal Williams.
Dan’s To Be Named Team vs. Team tccromp
Dan handily defeated TC 107 to 80. The weeks third highest score hid the fact that TC actually outperformed his projection by 10 points and outscored 4 other teams in the league. The season ending injury to J.K. Dobbins could force Dan into a trade to find depth at running back.
That’s What Cheesehead vs. Team Neek
Rookie QB Anthony Richardson soundly outplayed his rivel Josh Allen this week to lead Team Neek to a 78-52 victory over That’s What Cheesehead. Adam had four players score under one fantasy point on the week which makes winning difficult - which seems to be part of the plan. Neeek had Kyren Williams go off on his bench. Going forward Williams could be a weekly starter.
Team gee17 vs. Jolly Roger
Jolly Roger put up the most points this week, easily defeating Team gee17 114-85. This is the 3rd time in 6 seasons that Jolly Roger had the top score on opening week. The management over there seems to know how to motivate their players! Greg was let down by his duo of Bangles wide receivers with Ja’Marr Chase and Tee Higgins combining for just 6 points. Times should get better Greg!
Team JoePerm vs. Joe Wojda
In the battle of the Joe’s, JoeDubya had the better day winning 109-79. He got help from Austin Ekeler and newly acquired Calvin Ridley each of who scored over 20 points. JoePerm, on the other hand, was leaning heavily on the 39 points from Tyreek Hill… and that was about it. It’s never a good day when your superstar QB only puts up three points.
