Week 3, 2024

Jauan Jennings may not get a million chances to be the top scoring fantasy player for a week, so when he achieves that goal, he deserves to be honored. His 41 points were scored on 11 receptions for 175 yards and three TDs. That is pretty darn amazing. But even with that effort the Niners lost.

And once again this write up is later than I would like it to be. But I now have some automation around generating these reports, so hopefully I get reach my goal of getting them out on Tuesdays starting next week. I’m sure something else will come up to delay them, but it is still a goal!

Fantasy Heroes

Is it any wonder that the two Joes had the highest scores this week? Between the two of them they controlled all of the top five players for the week. And once again there is only a single QB on a list dominated by running backs. If this trend keeps up the year end list of the top scoring players will look different than in past seasons.

Blunder of the Week

This week’s blunder belongs to Louiewallis for a few bad moves. First and foremost was starting Raheem Mostert who didn’t play. Shame on you Louie! Jalen Tolbert’s 11 points would have been very useful in that spot. Combine that with 19 points from QB Daniel Jones instead of 8 from Baker Mayfield and you end up with 87 points, enough to get the win.

Transaction action

We saw a big trade go down on Wednesday with Derrick Henry moving from Joe Wojda’s team to Euan’s. Henry has been a cornerstone of Joe’s team since he was traded for right after the start up draft. The compensation for the Yeti was a raft of 2nd round picks, from ‘25, ‘26, and ‘27. But the total number of picks stayed the same for both teams as Euan got back Joe’s 4th rounders for the same years. A quick analysis says that Euan got the better end of the deal, but we won’t know the true winner for years to come.

Also on Wednesday was waiver wire madness as five managers put in bids for Tyler Badie. WhiteHartBobbyLayne won with a bid of $34, $17 more than the next highest big.

Power Rankings

These were calculated before the Henry trade and before the waiver wire ran. So I expect to see movement again next week. If Jolly Roger ends up losing again they could fall to number 3 in the ranks.

Standings

That’s What Cheesehead remains undefeated but has scored almost 100 less points than the closest rivals. A bad week four could see the team fall from second all the way to fifth.
